about the author / illustrator
My Story
Damien Irvine is an Australian creator, writer and illustrator of the Rick and Cam adventure series, a husband and father of three children, who creates fast-paced humorous comic adventures to help young readers enjoy books and build confidence in reading.
The Rick and Cam series was inspired by the wild and imaginative childhood stories Damien shared with his own children, nephews and nieces. Encouraged to bring these memories to life, he began writing and illustrating short, action-packed adventures that combine friendship, suspense and laugh-out-loud chaos.
Through volunteering at his children’s school, Damien saw first-hand how many modern kids struggle with patience and motivation when learning to read. His vision for the Rick and Cam universe is to create an expanding collection of colourful graphic stories designed especially for reluctant readers aged 8-12 years. Stories that are exciting, accessible and always leave them wanting the next adventure.
With a growing catalogue of titles and many more stories planned, Damien continues to build the world of Rick and Cam so young readers everywhere can discover the fun of turning the page.
